About Taschen
Since Taschen started their work as a cultural archeologist in 1980, Taschen has become synonymous with accessible, eclectic publishing. From their affordable Basic Art series to highly collectible limited editions, they are committed to making the best books on the planet at any price and size.
One of the decisive moments in their history was the publication of Helmut Newton’s Sumo in 1999. Newton’s genius, the extraordinary level of resources put into this project, and its sheer scale established new horizons: Sumo became a landmark in publishing and set the tone for a meticulously curated list of Collectors’ Editions.
At the other end of the spectrum, honoring the company’s philosophy to democratize the art book, they created the Taschen 40 Series – beautiful renditions of the stars of their program that are more compact than their originals, low-priced and still realized with the same commitment to impeccable production.
